CMML Scholarship
Goal: To increase interest in missions as a potential life calling among Emmaus Bible College students with an assembly background.
Award Amounts:
- Up to $10,000 toward tuition, room and board, or textbook costs during the student’s junior year
- Up to $10,000 toward tuition, room and board, or textbook costs during the student’s senior year
Number of Awards:
- Potentially two or more each year, at CMML’s discretion
Eligibility:
- The student is in fellowship at a New Testament patterned fellowship (typically referred to as the assemblies) as identified within the Assembly Handbook prior to attending college.
- The student is in full-time attendance at the Emmaus Bible College campus.
- The student holds a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- The student is in their sophomore year and has a declared major (or intends to declare a major) in either Intercultural Studies, Teacher Education, or Cross-Cultural Nursing.
- Note: Students in other majors may be considered provided all other steps below are followed and met. However, they must at least minor in Intercultural Studies or English as a Second Language (ESL or TESOL).
- The student is seriously contemplating long-term work for the Lord on the international mission field.
Application Process:
To apply for the Junior year scholarship, the following steps should be taken:
- Student completes an essay describing (1) How they came to Christ, (2) What they believe their spiritual gifting to be, (3) What ministerial activities they engage in at their home assembly, (4) Why they chose their major at Emmaus (5) What they would like to do on the mission field (6) Where would they like to serve the Lord and (7) Identify any missionaries whom they know or with whom they are familiar.
- Student submits a recommendation letter signed by the elders from their home assembly where they confirm the possible calling of the Lord in the student’s life to the mission field or full-time work.
- Student receives a recommendation letter from one professor at Emmaus and one other source (e.g., employer or non-relative contact)

If selected, the student agrees to attend the one-week Missionary Orientation Program (MOP) held at Greenwood Hills Bible Camp in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, during the summer between their sophomore and junior year. The student is also expected to remain in fellowship at their home assembly.
After completing, CMML will grant a scholarship of up to $10,000 to Emmaus Bible College on behalf of the student to be applied toward the student’s account (which could be used for tuition, room, and board or to offset textbook costs) for their junior year.
To apply for the Senior year scholarship, the following steps should be taken:
Students outside of the Teacher Education department will go on a short-term missions trip of no less than six weeks in either of these tracks:
(1) InterculturalStudiessemesterabroad
(2) SummerShort-termmissionstrip(tobeorganizedinconjunctionwithCMML)between their junior and senior yearStudents within the Teacher Education department should be approved to student teach overseas by the department and establish a placement accordingly (or if the preference is to student teach in Dubuque, complete the Summer Short Term Missions trip described above.)
- In each venue, the student will be expected to work with foreign missionaries whom CMML serves.
- To receive the up to $10,000 scholarship for their senior year, the student must write an essay discussing the goals and accomplishments of their internship or short-term missions trip. (What they did, what they learned, what surprised them, how this experience helped in their future plans, etc.). In the case of teacher education students, it will lay out what they hope to teach, to whom, and where. It should also include a copy of their placement assignment and approval to student teach.
After successful completion, CMML will grant a scholarship of up to $10,000 to Emmaus Bible College on behalf of the student to be applied toward the student’s account for their senior year.
Student Selection:
- CMML will make all final determinations as to scholarship recipients.
