Job Description: 

Areas of Responsibility

As directed by the Director of Digital Marketing

  • Graphic Design
    • Creative development of printed communications for Enrollment, Advancement, Athletics, President, Emmaus Ministries, campus events, etc. (annual report, alumni newsletter, conference mailings, advertisements, postcards, brochures, fliers, etc.)
    • Creative development of digital communications to be used in various digital marketing channels (paid and organic social media, display advertisements, email design, landing page design mock-ups, etc.)
  • Printing Services
    • Manage cost-effective print requests using departmental equipment. Outsource to local or online printers when appropriate. Collect and disseminate timely quotes for approval prior to authorizing print services.
  • Photographic Portfolio
    • Participate in procurement of quality, current, relevant imagery of the campus, faculty, staff, students, local environment, etc.

Job Duties

  • Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials.
  • Plans concept by studying information and materials.
  • Illustrates concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts.
  • Collects feedback from invested customers and decision makers; revises concept.
  • Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval.
  • Prepares finished copy and art by operating printers, paper trimmers and similar equipment; or submits to outside vendors.
  • Prepares final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art.
  • Completes projects by coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies (when authorized).
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Printed communications are attractive, timely, cost-effective, current and well received by external audiences.
  • Internal departments (Athletics, Academics, Student Life, Facilities, etc) are satisfied with their ability to communicate with their respective constituencies.
  • Designed collateral communicates effectively and is well received by internal and external constituencies. 
  • Deadlines are consistently met.
  • Christ-like behavior and a servant’s heart are consistently displayed.
  • Team assignments are met with active, self-motivated participation.



  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design (preferred) or a related field 

Knowledge, Competence, and Skill

  • Has a minimum of one year’s experience in graphic design
  • Committed to ongoing training and education in the field of graphic design
  • Creative, artistic, and able to effectively and efficiently transfer ideas into designs
  • Affinity for detail and precision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer-focused
  • Flexible and able to receive constructive criticism
  • Responsible and reliable both personally and professionally 
  • Additional (desired, but not required):
    • Experience in magazine design, layout and illustration
    • Experience designing for conservative evangelical audiences
    • Experience with photography and/or videography
    • Ability to present a professional design portfolio
