Programs in General Studies
Students will learn and develop critical thinking skills (reading, writing, evaluation, etc.) in a series of general studies classes similar to what they would take at any other institution, with the chief exception that these courses will be taught from and in demonstration of a biblical worldview. In other words, history is "His" Story. Science is a method that teaches us to stand in awe of the God who made all things. Mastering the arts of reading, writing, and speaking are meant to not only train us to be successful in life, but more importantly to be able to understand, know, and share about God's world and will.

The professors in the general studies classes are passionate about the subject and have a desire for students to learn, be impacted, and apply what they’ve learned in regular life. At Emmaus I was taught not only the flow in history and events, but I was also taught to observe history in such a way that examines the worldviews at the times. I learned not just to memorize what happened but to study why certain events occurred and look at history through multiple perspectives.

The history program at Emmaus is something special. I loved the classes, the debates, the challenging issues we discussed and the relationships that were formed. Not only do I now teach history for my career, which I love, but I also have been shaped by the lessons that I have learned. It’s extremely important to be grounded in God’s word and in history. This program gives you that grounding; and it prepares you for rest of your life.
The Associate of Arts in General Studies can be used as a bridge to many different academic programs and career opportunities. Some examples are:
