Dr. Beatty Accepts Leadership Position with the Association for Biblical Higher Education

It is with both joy and sadness that we announce that Dr. Lisa Beatty has accepted the position as the Director, Commission on Accreditation with the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) effective July 1, 2021. We are joyful because this new role gives Dr. Beatty the opportunity to extend her impact on biblical higher education far beyond Emmaus Bible College. In her announcement to the faculty she said that she is “sensing the Lord’s call to broader service in biblical higher education” and that she “will have the opportunity to serve the Bible college movement as a whole, including Emmaus.” Yet, we are saddened because she leaves with the knowledge, experience, and relationships that come with 29 years of faithful service to the college.

Dr. Beatty’s 29 years at Emmaus included eleven years serving as the chair of the music department and the last eighteen years leading as the vice president for academic affairs. During her time as the Chief Academic Officer at the college, she led our efforts to achieve and maintain regional accreditation. She worked to expand our academic offerings to include business, counseling, and secondary and ESL education, while keeping the Bible at the core of our curriculum. Dr. Beatty also developed partnerships with area colleges and universities to offer nursing, pre-professional health science, and 3+1 transfer options. Her impact at Emmaus Bible College is immeasurable.

In her new role as the ABHE Commission on Accreditation Director, Dr. Beatty will serve as an advocate for the interests of biblical higher education by engaging in national and international dialogue and policy making regarding quality assurance in biblical higher education. Some of her responsibilities will include oversight of the implementation of accreditation standards and policies as well as consultation, evaluation, and decision-making processes relative to accredited institutions and those seeking accreditation from ABHE. She will also serve as the point of contact between ABHE and the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Dr. Beatty will continue to serve as the vice president for academic affairs through June 2021, when she will assume her new role with ABHE. We will soon begin a national search for a new vice president for academic affairs. Please pray for Dr. Beatty and her family, as well as Emmaus Bible College as we make this transition together.
