Job Description: 

Assist the VPAA as needed and directed:

  1. To maintain and update academic policy documents and the academic calendar;
  2. To coordinate and manage all academically-related special events including orientation, convocation, baccalaureate, and graduation;
  3. To set up courses each semester on the learning management system (LMS) used by the college;
  4. To obtain information and generate reports as needed using the student management/information system (SMS/SIS);
  5. To conduct periodical assessments, semester-end course reviews, and surveys;
  6. To provide general announcements, updates, and notifications from the VPAA to faculty and students;
  7. To file, store and retrieve electronic and physical documents pertaining to academic affairs;
  8. To draft agendas for meetings
  9. Other matters or needs pertaining to academic affairs as may arise

The list of essential functions as outlined above is representative of the tasks performed in this position. The VPAA may assign manageable duties not listed but within the areas of academic affairs, as needed.

  • Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree with several years’ experience in an academic setting

Knowledge, Competence, and Skill

  • Good communication skills (verbal, writing, email)
  • Familiarity with and skill in using Microsoft Office suite (at least Word and Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to prioritize and carry out different types of tasks as needed
  • Willingness to be trained on Emmaus’ LMS and SMS applications, to be able to use them and later to provide needed orientation to new users.
