STAFF BIOS
Justin Smith has served as Athletic Director and Head Women's Basketball Coach since 2005, and Intramural Director since 2002. He received his Bachelor's in Biblical Studies from Emmaus in 2002. Justin averaged 16.1 points over four seasons of basketball for the Eagles, and was named NCCAA All-American in 2001. Justin and Wendy were married in 2002, have two daughters, Isabelle and Kindra, and a son, Nehemiah.
Tim Iverson has served as Head Men's Basketball Coach since 1995, while also serving on the faculty in the Mathematics and Science departments at Emmaus. He received his Master's in Mathematics from the University of Northern Iowa in 1994. Krista Iverson received her degrees in Physical Education and Athletic Training from Coe College in 1993. She has served as Athletic Trainer at Emmaus since 1997. Tim and Krista were married in 1997 and have three children: Timothy, Joshua, and Marissa.
Steve Seeman began serving as Head Men's Soccer Coach in 2009. Steve received his Bachelor's from Northern Arizona University where he also played on the club soccer team. He played recreational soccer in Phoenix and Seattle and also coached a youth soccer team in Seattle for five years. Steve has served as the Financial Aid Director at Emmaus since 2006. He and his wife Cheryl have two children: Mindy and Eric, both Emmaus graduates.
Neil Pitman took over as Head Women's Volleyball Coach in 2009. He graduated from Emmaus in 2002 with double major in Biblical Studies and Computer Information Systems. In his six seasons as head coach at Tri-State Christian School (Galena, IL), he compiled 131 wins and led the Huskies to a 3rd place NACA National Tournament finish in 2004. He and his wife Beth were married in November of 2005. They have two sons, Iain and Liam. Neil is employed by Medline Industries.
Dr. Jim Van Dine became the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach in 2009. He has been a faculty member in the Bible Exposition & Theology department since 2002. He received his undergraduate education at Luther College and his Master's and Ph.D from Dallas Theological Seminary. Jim has a variety of experience both coaching and officiating basketball. For his achievements in football and track while at Luther, Jim was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005. He and his wife Kathy, the current Registrar at Emmaus, have the distinction of being the only married couple who are both members of the Luther Athletics Hall of Fame, as she was inducted in 1977. Jim and Kathy have four grown children and eight grandchildren.
Stephanie Mau, entering her third season as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach, graduated from Emmaus in 2008 with a Bachelor's in Biblical Studies and Elementary Education. In her four years as a Lady Eagle, she scored 968 points and won numerous national and regional awards. Stephanie and Jeremy were married in June of 2007. Stephanie is employed by the Dubuque Community School District as a substitute teacher, and also part-time at Emmaus in the Elementary Education department. She is originally from Warrenville, IL.
Jamie Larsen graduated from Emmaus in 2008 with a Bachelor's in Biblical Studies and Elementary Education. She played volleyball all the way through school until her career was cut short by knee injuries. Jamie is entering her third season as Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach. She hails from Fulton, IL, and is employed as a paraprofessional by the Dubuque Community School District.
Phil Boom joined the Emmaus faculty as program director for the Business Administration department in the summer of 2010. He played soccer in the U.K. prior to attending college at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he received his undergraduate education. He received an MBA from Temple University in 1986, and has spent the past 30 years working for the DuPont Corporation in Delaware. Phil brings a great love for the game to his role as Assistant Men's Soccer Coach. He and his wife, Evelyn, have five children and two grandchildren.
