Minor in Music Ministry

The minor in Music Ministry is a program of study designed to equip the student for effective music ministry. Coursework for the minor can be used to fulfill some elective requirements in a major area of study.

Program Outcomes

The student will:

  1. Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of music theory.
  2. Demonstrate basic knowledge of style periods, key composers, and great works in the historical development of Western European art music.
  3. Demonstrate understanding of the biblical foundations for and historical practices of the use of music in the church and integrate this knowledge into a biblical philosophy of music.
  4. Demonstrate effective skills in music ministry through a practicum experience.

  • Foundations of Church Music (MUS 250)
  • Methods of Music Ministry (MUS 256)
  • AV and Technology (EM 435)
  • Voice Class (MUS 124) or Keyboard Skills (MUS 328)
  • Music Elective
  • Applied Private Voice or Piano – 2 credits
  • Performing Group – 2 credits
