Shortly after the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us that two of His disciples were
walking down the road to a village named Emmaus (Lk 24:13). As they were walking and talking about
the events of the past few days, about His gruesome death but also His resurrection that very morning,
we are told that Jesus Himself approached them, walked along with them, and starting with Moses,
began to explain the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. Later than night when they realized
it was the Lord who was speaking with them they exclaimed, “Were not our hearts burning within us
while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?” (Lk 24:32).
That passage of Scripture in Luke explains where Emmaus Bible College derives its name, and also

their churches, ministries, communities, and vocations. The Lord has allowed us to do that for more than
